41C4220A Gear and Sprocket Assembly:

Fits Liftmaster / Chamberlain / Sears Craftsman and other brands of openers...
The 41C4220A Gear and Sprocket Assembly is the preferred way to "refurbish" your garage door opener as it quickly replaces all of the common wear parts in the opener drive system.  This kit includes all of the 41A2817 Drive / Worm Gear kit, and is easier to install because you do not have to disassemble the output shaft assembly - the spur gear is already mounted on the new output shaft.  The 41C4220A assembly also includes the worm gear, and a new bushing under the sprocket which is another common wear item.  Fits most chain drive openers manufactured since 1984 by: Liftmaster, Chamberlain, Sears Craftsman, Master Mechanic, and some units from Wayne Dalton.  Replaces part 41A2827.  Gears are not available for openers manufactured prior to 1984.  Instructions are included in the package.

Note:  Also fits openers labeled under various names such as: Sears Craftsman, True Value, Master Mechanic, and some units from Wayne Dalton.  Liftmaster also "private labeled" openers for regional suppliers and dealers - usually it is very easy to see that it is a Liftmaster opener with a different name on the cover.  Compare your parts to the picture above.  The Large Gear is 2 3/4" x 1/2" wide, with a 1/2" bore.  The worm gear is 1 1/8" OD, and the teeth are 1 1/4" wide (all sizes are approximate).

41A2817 Drive / Worm Gear Kit:

Fits Liftmaster / Chamberlain / Sears Craftsman and other brands of openers...
Drive/Worm Gear Kit 41A2817.  The kit comes with Spur and worm gears, grease, bushing, pins, washers, and retaining rings / clips.  Some vendors are selling cheap "knock off" Spur gears on the internet - Liftmaster only distributes their gears as a set.  If you only replace the large spur gear it will only last a short time as it will not mesh properly with the worn worm gear.  Always replace both gears together and lubricate them with the supplied grease.  Installation instructions are included by the manufacturer.
